Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.

Vans Final Presentation is done, this was without a doubt the toughest class I’ve ever taken but I am very proud of the results. In this class we were ask by Vans to come up with a line for Mens, Women, and Children, and these are my lines.
I am very prideful of my Mexican heritage and wanted to design a shoe that works as a tribute to my roots and family. I focused primarily in Vaquero (Mexican Cowboy) garments that consist of embroidery on leather. I focused my design on the “Piteado” Mexican belt.
I was very inspired by the Russian Modern art movement of Contructivism in the 1920’s, specifically the works of Liubov Popova and Varvara Stepanova who specialized in textile design.
Kids: Super Mario
Not knowing anything about kids, I looked back to my childhood and the things I liked as Kid. Nintendo has always been apart of my life (still is) and I wanted to design a shoe for kids who are barely getting their first game console.
This class has been a roller coaster ride for me. Not knowing anything about shoes or fashion in general, I began with a very rough start. Through frustration and starting over, I learned it is ok to scrap projects that don’t work because more than likely the new idea is always better than the first. It’s called process and to me that is the most important thing in design. I am really happy to take this class, I learned so much and I grew as a designer, seeing everyone’s work is inspiring to me.
Check out my friend’s art tumblr. I’ve known him for almost five years and I’m proud of how much he’s matured into an honest man, an artist, a graphic designer, and an entrepreneur. Love you, Julian. Always have and always will! And as my mother has always told me, go forth and conquer!
